Tapped: Spaten Optimator, Great Divide Hibernation Ale, Victory Harvest Pilsner. Untapped: High and Mighty St. Hubbins.

  • Untapped: High and Mightly St. Hubbins (1/4 barrel). Actually it was never tapped. The guys Sat night put it on, but I guess no one asked for one. It wasn't working on Sunday, so I checked it out, and it seems to be a Euro keg (so a US tap would fit on but not work). High and Mighty is a US contract brew, made at Paper City in Western Mass. So I would expect if it was High and Mighty, it would be in a US barrel. I know what we paid for; I'll check with the wholesaler tomorrow to see what we actually got. It might be Kulmbacher. The end result of this long story is that Spaten Optimator is currently on tap.
  • Great Divide Hibernation Ale replaced Dogfish Head Punkin Ale. Some local beer blogger had a great post about GD's Hiberation Ale recently. Oddly enough I can't Google it to save my life, so I'll have to retype what they said, or what I remember of it. Some days I can never get out of here. Hibernation Ale is one of those seasonal beers that has been around a long, long time. One of the original great winter seasonals, it's still great. Back in the day (around 10 years ago), a winter seasonal was a brewery's flagship beer, but turned up to 11. More malt, more hops, more everything, but not into the crazy zone, not like turned up to 20 or anything.
  • Our 2nd barrel of Victory Harvest Pilsner, Victory's wet-hopped pilsner, replaced Victory 132 Cents IPA.
  • Today's Link. John McCain on SNL. Flash updated itself on me today, but didn't warn me that I would have to reboot before Flash will work again. So I haven't seen this yet, but from what I have read both liberals and conservatives thought McCain was great on SNL.
