Draft Beer Changes
We tapped a Russian River Blind Pig IPA for Gary Bredbenner's memorial last night. Gary chased Russian River's Pliny the Elder all over the city. We couldn't score another Pliny in time, but we could hold the keg of Blind Pig we had until his memorial. The sixtel of Sixpoint Brownstone kicked just in time to make room for Blind Pig.
Last night's memorial was a real fitting tribute to Gary. Every seat on the 2nd floor was taken. There were both tears and laughter. It was impossible to keep a dry eye during Rich Pawlak's eulogy or during Lew Bryson's reading of his moving account of Gary's funeral service. It was also impossible not to laugh while talking about Gary.
Bringing people together to eat and drink and enjoy each other's company is what the Philadelphia beer scene is all about. It's what Gary was about. It's fitting that Gary's memorial resulted in just that. As soon as I remember to bring in a masonry nail, Gary's picture will be up on the 2nd floor, so you can have a drink with Gary whenever you'd like.
Replacing the sixtel of Troegs Naked Elf was a sixtel of Weyerbacher Thirteen, which was first tapped on Saturday. Weyerbacher Thirteen is a big tasty Belgian style imperial stout clocking in at over 13%, so big beer but small pours only.
Dock Street Keller Bohemian Pilsner replaced Victory Schwartz Pils, so a speical pilsner for a special pilsner.
