Hey Zeus, this really is the wee that never quits.
Tuesday - History
Some of us will be at the Frankford Historical Society for Rich Wagner's Breweries of Frankford, Kensington and Bridesburg presentation at 7:30pm. Why not stop in the Lodge for some dinner and brews before?
Wednesday - Quizzo
This week's quizmaster will be Chris3. Quizzo, every Wednesday, 8pm on our 2nd floor.
Thursday - Homebrewers and Lew Bryson
On 14 October 1978, President Jimmy Carter signed a bill making it legal for Americans to make their own beer, which really did lead to the great beer scene the USA has today. Sounds like a great reason to celebrate to us.
- Meet some professional brewers who started out as homebrewers, get some tips, and maybe some recipes.
- Homebrewers:
-meet other homebrewers, all of the local clubs have been invited.
-bring some of your beer to swap with other brewers. Due to liquor laws, we'll have to ask everyone to drink any homebrew at home.
- Lew Bryson will be by at 9pm to sell and sign copies of the just released 4th edition of Pennsylvania Breweries.
- and more to come!
Friday - Firkins and Authors
1) Friday the Fifthkinteenth: After running short previous Firkinteenths, we sort of over did it and bought more firkins than we could tap for August's Firkinteenth. What do with the remaining 4 untapped firkins? Might as well make use of Friday the 15th, which is this month.
We'll be tapping all four at 6pm. We will have Cricket Hill Colonel Blide, Iron Hill Iron Bound Porter, Lancaster Amish Four Grain, Troegs Hopback.
2) Authors A'Plenty #8. Our meet the authors series continues. Authors A'Plenty gives us the opportunity to meet and hang out with local authors. For this one, Chris Bauer and D. H. Dublin, will be joining us. They will copies of their books to sell and sign.
Chris is a Northeast Philly native. Scars on the Face of God: The Devil’s Bible, is inspired by the legendary origin of a surviving 13th century manuscript. It is a horror, mystery, love story, but with no zombies or vampires, not that there’s anything wrong with them.
D.H. Dublin, has been at the Lodge for previous Authors A'Plenty night, is a local mystery writer who now has three books published.
Saturday - Phillies
Join to root on the Phils. Though the game time is still to be announced; we'll be open and ready.
