This Week at The Grey Lodge Pub
This week's Beer Season Beer of the Week is Founders Breakfast Stout. Sever years ago, this beer entered the Philadelphia market as an icon. I remember the excitement over the first cases we got and then a year a later when we tapped the first draft Founders Breakfast Stout for Groundhog's Day. Since then various barrel aged version of this beer, Kentucky Breakfast Stout, aged in bourbon barrels, and Canadian Breakfast Stout, aged in rye barrels and fermented with maple syrup, both were huge hits.
This is the original version, which clocks in at 8.3% ABV; some of the barrel aged versions have double digit ABVs. Founders Breakfast Stout is brewed with breakfast stuff including flaked oats, bitter and imported chocolates, and Sumatra and Kona coffee. For the record, I consider chocolate to part of a good breakfast. I'm sure you'll dig it. It also has a super cool label.
Wednesday night, it's Quizzo with Quizmaster Chris3. As always, Quizzo is Wednesdays, 8pm on our 2nd floor.
Thursday night, up the Avenue, the Mayfair Arts Initiative is holding it's first meeting and everyone is invited to attend, whether you are an artist or not.
Saturday and Sunday, we serve brunch from 10am to 3pm. Our regular menu is available too.
Sunday it's our annual 120 on 01/20 when we tap a sixtel of Dogfish Head 120 Minute IPA. It's an all day event. At almost 20% ABV, we expect the sixtel to last all day. In the interest of safety, there's a limit of one per person, and everyone who orders a 120 Minute IPA also gets a pint of ice water.
Draft Beer Update
On our beer engine, cask conditioned Dock Street Man Full of Trouble Porter replaced Bear Republic Racer 5. A nice porter from a nice brewery.
On our IPA line, an old favorite, Sixpoint Bengali Tiger IPA, replaced Elysian Valhalla Imperial Red.
