This Week at The Grey Lodge Pub
This week's Beer Season beer of the week is Duvel. This is the iconic and much imitated Belgian blonde ale.
Wikipedia does a great job of describing this beer, so we are just going to steal that. To commemorate the end of World War I, the Moortgats named their main beer Victory Ale. But during the 1920s, an avid drinker described the beer as "nen echten duvel" (a real devil in Brabantian Dutch) - perhaps in reference to its formidable alcohol content (8.5% ABV) - and the name of the beer was changed to Duvel. It has become the brewery's flagship beer.[3] Considered by many the definitive version of the Belgian Strong Pale Ale style, Duvel is brewed with Pilsner malt and white sugar, and hopped with Saaz hops and Styrian Goldings, the yeast still stems from the original culture of Scottish yeast bought by Albert Moortgat during a business tour of the U.K. just after World War I.

Much of this week, we will be getting ready for Saturday, which is our annual Groundhog Day Hawaiian Shirt Beer Breakfast/Lucky Cat Day Beer Prognostication. We open at 7am to catch Punxy Phil when he does his business at 7:20am. We then a full morning of great beer and lots of fun.
We serve brunch every Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 3pm. This week, we will have a special brunch menu for Groundhog Day on Saturday. Sunday will feature our regular brunch menu.
Draft Beer Update
On our IPA line, Ithaca Flower Power IPA replaced Port Brewing Wipeout IPA. It's a been a while since we were able to get a keg of Flower Power, which is a great IPA. Now that Ithaca has finished their new brewery, that should no longer be an issue.
