This Week at the Grey Lodge

It's Philly Tech Week and we have two events set up to celebrate. Plus all of the usual stuff; it's a full week.

Taco Tuesday: Tuesday is Taco Tuesday from 5pm to midnight.
Our kitchen krew comes up with three different tacos every week. Tacos are 3 for $8, mix and match as you like. The current week's selections are updated here every Tuesday afternoon.

Home Brew: This will be the 2nd Tuesday of month, which means it's time for the monthly Lucky 13 Home Brew Club meeting at 7:30pm. We have a really fun crew of very talented and nice home brewers. If you are a home brewer, come out make new friends and brewing partnerships.

Quizzo: Wednesday we have Quizzo at 8pm. This week's Quizmaster is Chris3, who will have a special Tech Week Quizzo. The poster (shown on the right) has the official Leetspeak version of the name. I know how to code it on our Webpage, but pasting it into Blogger has created all sorts of a mess. So come get your geek on with Tech Quizzo on Wednesday at 8pm.

Weekend Brunch: Saturday and Sunday, we serve Brunch from 10am to 3pm. In addition to our regular brunch menu, Big Dan has a brunch special every weekend. Our regular menu is available too.

Soccer: Watch the Philadelphia Union with us on Saturday. This week the Union take on Real Salt Lake at 4pm. We are an official Philadelphia Union Pub Partner. All season long we will have give-ways during every Union game. This week we will be raffling off tickets and scarves during the game.

Video Games: On Sunday, in honor of Philly Tech Week Jeff and Rich will be setting up four player Nintendo 64s so we can Zap Aliens and Save the Universe, While Drinking a Beer. Bring your old friends, make some new ones, and help us save the universe.

Draft Beer Update

Wow a lot of change up since Saturday night's update.

Kicked: Troegs Nugget Nectar, Sly Fox Ichor (sixtel), Victory Hop Ticket Hoppy Wheat, Weyerbacher Heresy, Roy Pitz Ludwigs Revenge, Lagunitas Undercover Investigation Shut-Down Ale, Free Will Danae.

Tapped:

Round Guys Kiss Off IPA is an great hoppy IPA from Round Guys out in Lansdale. Sean Null of our home brew club has a part time gig brewing with them. Talking of our home brew club, our next meeting is tomorrow (see above).

Sly Fox Royal Weisse is a great German style hefeweizen from our friends in Royersford.

Lancaster Lager is a helles style lager from Lancaster. 3 Pennsylvania beers in a row. Bill Moore, Lancaster's brewmaster, is a master with lagers. I can't wait to have one or more tomorrow night.

Brooklyn Winter Ale - this is one of those old school microbrew winter ales from about 18 years ago; old school micros still making this style also include Weyerbacher, Lancaster, and Summit. A bit maltier, darker, and hardier for winter but not crazy in the abv department. It is really nice to see these beers are still coming around after all these years.

Philadelphia Fleur de Lehigh - Philly's spring seasonal is an interestingly spiced saison. "Interesting" usually means "meh... it was eh interesting". That's NOT the case here. This is quite different but in a very good way. And it's lower octane. This is one of my favorite Philly Brewing beers.

Sixpoint Seison - There's a lot of range of interpretation of what a saison aka Belgian Farmhouse Ale is. or can be This new one from Sixpoint seems to be of the more standard type, an amber colored beer with yeasty spiciness. It deviates from the standard with higher than normal hoppiness.

Spring House Lil' Gruesome Peanut Butter Jelly Stout - this peanut butter and jelly stout was very popular the last time we had it on. It sounds gross (well to me anyway) but it so isn't. Rather than jelly, they use raspberries. The balance of peanuts, raspberries, and the roastiness of the stout is very pleasing. This one won't last long.
