The first of five George Hummel Birthday Tour beers to be tapped for tonight's Dogfish Giotta's Blues - Liquid Poetry for a Poet, Paul Coff, Iron Hill Coco Loco (sixtel), replaced Dock Street Summer in Berlin. Wow that was some sentence. But this is some event. George Hummel, a legend in the Philly beer scene, long time co-owner of Home Sweet Home, and long time beer writer and author, collaborated with various breweries to celebrate his 60th birthday. One of these beers was in honor of his late friend and ours Paul Coff, who passed away this year after battling Parkinsons. All 5 beers were donated and all proceeds are going to Parkinsons research. Coco Loco is a Belgian golden strong ale is brewed with Mandarina and Nelson hops and aged on 50 pounds of freshly toasted coconut for an exotic twist.

Also tapped for tonight are:
Nodding Head Georges Fault (sixtel) - this 9% ABV Belgian strong ale with honey won the gold at GABF a few years ago. This beer does not drink like a 9%er so be careful.

Dogfish Head Giotta's Blues (sixtel) - With 5 types of malt, maple syrup, anise, licorice root, sweet orange, grains of paradise, 2 types of hops, and a Belgian style yeast, Giotta's Blues seems like it will be a pretty crazy beer. But that's probably why George chose Dogfish Head to make it with him.

cask-conditioned Yards Southern Brown Ale - a clone of an ale brewed in 1933 by Whitbread Brewery. As an English ale tribute, the complex beer boasted an attractive mix of sweet malts and hints of caramel, aside rich, earthy characteristics and subtle whiffs of lemon

Stewart's Wheat IPA (sixtel) - brewed with 50% wheat, and Mt Hood and Cascade hops

These had to be untapped and will be back: Heavy Seas Red Sky at Night, Sierra Nevada / Cigar City Beer Camp Yonder Bock, Sierra Nevada / Bells Beer Camp Maillard's Odyssey, Beer Engine: cask-conditioned Yards ESA
