Lots going on today!

Fri 03 June: HAMMER OF GLORY RELAY STOPS (BRIEFLY) AT THE GREY LODGE, 10:30AM - 11:15AM
Getting the Hammer of Glory (HOG), the beloved omnipotent symbol of Philly Beer Week, to the Opening Tap has become a phenomenon in its own right. Every year the HOG makes a crazy journey through the city stopping at various beer destinations until it arrives at the Opening Tap, where it is wielded by the mayor to tap the first keg, officially opening Philly Beer Week. Each leg of its journey features a different method of transport.

This year, like the last two, a bicycle convoy will take the HOG from the Grey Lodge to its next destination, which this year is Philly Brewing. The HOG should arrive from Hop Angel Brauhaus at 10:50am. It will hang out for 8 minutes for a beer and photo ops, before leaving the G-Lodge promptly at 10:58am. Why not join us to cheer on the HOG as it leaves Northeast Philly for parts unknown (OK known as we do know the next stop is Philly Brewing). Actually the entire journey is known. More details of the 2011 HOG relay are here. http://thefullpint.com/events/philly-beer-week-2011-announces-the-annual-hammer-of-glory-relay

If you wish to join the bicycle caravan, show up with your bike and be ready to roll at 10:58am. This year Chris Daguanno will be leading the caravan.

Fri 03 June: FUNKY FIRST FRIDAY AFTER WORK PARTY WITH THE HOP ANGELS
Today we will have our third First Friday After Work Party. The first Friday of every month is funky at The Grey Lodge (well extra funky since everything we do is funky). Constants will be fun funky music by The Hop Angels and special beers on tap.

The Hop Angels are a band of rotating musicians, so the sound and songs will vary a little each month to keep things interesting.

No extra special rare beers will be especially featured for this Funky First Friday, since Philly Beer Week starts at the Grey Lodge on Saturday with Dead Presidents with Yards Brewing and we will be shaking up the draft line-up like crazy all next week. We might still have the very special Sixpoint Das Doppelsticke on tap, which is crazy good. If not, we'll tap one of the bourbon aged Yards beers a day early to make sure we have something special for Funky First Friday.

The band plays from 6pm to 9pm. As usual, no cover!

Draft Beer Update:

Weyerbacher Papa replaced Sixpoint Bengali Tiger IPA. Weyerbacher Papa is back on and is still a Scottish Ale.

Yards Poor Richard's Tavern Spruce replaced Sixpoint Sweet Action. On a little early for our Yard's Dead Presidents event tomorrow is Yards Poor Richard's Tavern Spruce. Tavern Spruce was originally brewed to celebrate and Ben Franklin’s 300th Birthday. It is brewed with Norwegian Spruce tips and a whole dwarf Alberta Spruce. Ben is not a president, but is arguably the most important Founding Father.

Yuengling Bock Beer replaced Victory Prima Pils. Yuengling Bock Beer is back on also.
