This Week at The Grey Lodge
Wednesday - Quizzo with Quizmaster Pete. As usual, 8pm on our 2nd floor.
Saturday - Saturday is the 4th Annual Mayfair Fallen Heroes Run/Walk and the 5th Annual Mayfair May Fair. The weather looks like it is going to cooperate this year.
4th Annual Fallen Heroes Run/Walk
The Fallen Heroes Run/Walk benefits the best of causes, the families of fallen Philadelphia police officers and fire fighters. If you haven't signed up yet, what you waiting for? There will be a lot of familiar faces there. Last year the Mayfair Civic and Mayfair Business Association raised over $10,000 for this extremely worthy cause.
5th Annual Mayfair May Fair
The Mayfair May Fair starts up after the Run. This is a day of fun for all ages. In the afternoon, most of the action takes place around the Cottman/Frankford/Ryan Avenues Triangle. There will be bands, music, give-aways, face painting, the annual Pretzel Factory Street Fair, the 15th Precinct Police Dept. Advisory Committee's Community Day, and much more.
Down on our end of the Avenue. Shop N Bag will have lots of family fun and free food from 11am to 2pm.
From 2pm to dusk, there will be a car show on Hawthorne Street, right across the street from us.
At 5pm, the first of three bands will start playing outside at the future law office a few doors down from us. Two of the bands feature Grey Lodge regulars. Huge Jackman plays at 5pm. Queen Helene is on at 6:30pm. SexySadie Band closes up at 7:30pm. Hang on our sidewalk, drink a Yards beer, catch the bands.
Also at 5pm, there will be an Art and Craft Fair across the street from us.
At the Grey Lodge, we will feature Meet Philadelphia's Beer Baron, Tom Kehoe. We will have 7 Yards beers on tap, most of their flagships and some special ones, including Yards Chocolate Love Stout and Yards MacDougal’s Scotch Ale. Tom will be here from 7pm to 9pm. Yards will have give-aways.
So Yards, live music, artists, and cars here outside and inside the Grey Lodge on Saturday evening. Don't miss it! Click here for more details.
Draft Beer Update
Six lines changed over since I left yesterday evening.
Kicked: Twin Lakes Winterthur Spring Wheat (quarter barrel), Green Flash Summer Saison (sixtel), Flying Fish Hopfish, Stoudts Pils, Dock Street Satellite Stout, Sly Fox Incubus.
Tapped:
Elysian Bete Blanche Tripel - a Belgian style triple from Seattle.
Hofbrau Sommer - Hofbrau of Munich didn't send many of these over, but we got one. Hofbrau bills this amber lager, a beer garden favorite, as a great alternative to hefewiezen. Sounds like a very nice beer to enjoy at our sidewalk cafe, once the weather cooperates come Wednesday.
Troegs Java Head Stout - Troegs' coffee stout takes a short residence on our black beer line. With all the great beer Troegs makes, we don't seem to fit this one in too often, so catch it while you can.
Brooklyn East India Pale Ale - For our hopheads.
Sly Fox Macht Schnell Kolsch - Sly Fox didn't brew a lot this one, but we have one. Kolsch are light, refreshing golden ales. Not too hoppy.
Manayunk Hidden River Wit - a Belgian style wheat beer from Manayunk.
