Sun, 03 June 2012

We have three more Philly Beer Week events lined-up for today. They unfold one after the other, starting at 5pm.

Sunday, 03 June 2012, Grey Lodge Pub, 5pm - 7pm
Lew & Scoats's New Jersey Brewery Trek
For the last few Philly Beer Weeks, Lew & Scoats have traveled the great commonwealth of Pennsylvania to bring back interesting beers from breweries not seen down here in Philly. Accompanied by some stories from the road.

This year, they ventured east to the Garden State. Enjoy some New Jersey beers while listening to Lew and Scoats's tales from the road.

On Tap:
Boaks Two Blind Monks
Cricket Hill East Coast Lager
Flying Fish Farmhouse
Ramstein Double Platinum
River Horse Hop Hazard

Brewers and reps from most, if not all, of the visited breweries will be on hand.

Sunday, 03 June 2012, Grey Lodge Pub, 7pm - 8pm
Beer Chemist Roger Barth, book signing
Roger Barth, a chemistry professor at West Chester University, teaches a course called The Chemistry of Beer. He wrote a book with the same title, which he will have for sale for just $25, and would make a cool Father's Day gift.

Dr. Barth will also be taking and answering questions. He has also promised us an experiment or two that will blow up like the volcano on The Brady Brunch!

Home brewers, Dr. Barth will bring equipment to measure SRM of your beer samples.

This will make a great one-two (or one-two-three) combo with the Lew & Scoats New Jersey Beer Trek at 5pm and Dupont Belge at 8pm.

Dupont Belge - What Happens in Belgium Does Not Stay in Belgium
What Happens in Belgium Does Not Stay in Belgium... It comes here to Philly.

Every year Philly Beer Week has a raffle to win a trip to Belgium to brew a beer with the local brewer of their choice. The winner was award winning homebrewer Vince Masciandaro. Vince chose Iron Hill's Chris Lapierre to come with him. (Chris has won some awards too).

Back in February, Scoats was in Belgium at Brasserie Dupont with a bunch of fellow Philadelphians while Dupont Belge was being. Some of that crew will reunite for this event.

Have a beer with Don and Wendy of Vanberg & DeWulf!.. the importers of Dupont and lots of other iconic beers. They are a really interesting couple. They travel the world finding beer to bring to the USA.

On Tap:
Dupont Special Belge
Saison Dupont
