St. Jean-Baptist Day is This Wednesday

St. Jean-Baptiste Day is this Wednesday. St John the Baptist is the patron saint of Quebec, we'll celebrating his feast day with Quebecois beer and food. The beer will be numerous bottles from Unibroue. The full list of Unibroue beers will be up tomorrow.

St. Jean-Bapiste Food Menu
  • Poutine, real authentic poutine with cheddar curds (not the faux version with mozzarella curds that can sometimes be found in these parts). Poutine is fries with brown gravy and cheese curds. Of course we'll be using our fresh cut, double cooked fries. Chef Jim will be making a special brown gravy using Unibroue Don de Dieu. $6.95
  • Smoked Pork Tenderloin Sandwich with maple onions on toasted onion brioche. We couldn't do a traditional Montreal Smoked Meat Sandwich this year (hopefully next year), but we have this tasty substitute. The maple onions will be made using real maple syrup from Vermont, which is right across the border from Quebec. $8.95
  • Pork and Beans. In my visits to Montreal, I somehow missed the pork and beans. Chef Jim's research reveals that pork and beans is huge in Quebec. We'll be using smoked pork belly and maple simmered kidney beans (utilizing that real maple syrup). $6.95
The special food and beer menu will be ready at 4pm. We won't be serving heads on platters, maybe next year.

I'm psyched. Hoping for some Raftman/Eau Benite (do they still make these?). I've been trying to get my hands on a taste of this for a year.

If Raftman and/or Eau Benite are available, we'll have them for Wednesday. See you then.
