Understandably, the crappy weather kept people at home last weekend. So our best laid plans to tap and kick all sorts of crazy Dogfish Head beer didn't go exactly as planned. Rather that have all sorts of high priced, crazy beers on tap at once, we took advantage of this morning's line cleaning to pull the Dogfish sixtels and the run them one after each other. I was too vilagent and took one too many off.
These three will return soon: Dogfish Head Birra Etrusca - Bronze (sixtel)
Dogfish Head Black and Blue (sixtel)
Dogfish Head Red & White (sixtel)
Kicked on Sunday were: Dogfish Head American Beauty (sixtel) Dogfish Head Hellhound (sixtel) Tapped are: Brookyln Post Road Pumpkin, our last pumpkin beer for 2013 gets tapped in 2014. Well that tells you something about pumpkin beers these days. On the sunny side, this is our 1st pumpkin beer for 2014! And our last until autumn. Dominion Baltic Porter is this week's Beer Season beer of the week. But wait aren't we doing lagers for the current Beer Season? Why yes we are. Baltic porters can be lagers, in fact the iconic ones are. The Baltic porter style is thought to be inspired by Russian Imperial Stouts, some of which were traded on route between their exportation from England and their ultimate destination of Russia back in the 19th century. Local brewers in those Baltic countries along the trade route were inspired make their own version of that high abv stout. They used the yeast that worked best for them, which was lager yeast. Dock Street Amber Ale - this is original Philadelphia microbrew. Way back when all microbrews were contract brewed at larger, older breweries. 30 years later, Dock Street is still around and brewing this beer in house at their brewpub in West Philly. This beer was notable back then for its dry-hopping which was totally wild at the time. Now many of us can't even taste that level of hopping anymore. River Horse Oatmeal Milk Stout - this is a damn tasty milk stout/oatmeal stout hybrid. Lactose makes it a bit sour and oatmeal, while flavorless, adds mellowness. Together, it's heavenly. Naked Pomegranate Wheat - a wheat beer with pomegranate. Pomegranates are considered to have health benefits that include putting lead in your pencil.
