Beer Season Beer of the Week
I should have mentioned this in Monday's post, but it's been a busy (but not productive) week. This week's Beer Season beer of the week is a doppelbock. Doppelbocks are strong dark lagers. The iconic Doppelbock is from Andechs, a monastery not far from Munich. It's an S-Bahn ride, which would be like taking SEPTA regional rail around here.

Troegenator is one of Troegs's original beers, it's still around all these years later. It is based on the Andechs version. It's a very tasty and complex beer. And now it's available in cans!

Draft Beer Update
On our IPA line, Summit Saga IPA replaced Tommyknocker Colorado IPA Nouveau. Saga is an IPA that should please even the pickiest of hopheads. The rest of us should quite enjoy it as well.

Dogfish Head Piercing Pils replaced Dogfish Head Red & White (sixtel). Piercing is a new pilsner from Dogfish Head. And since our friends from Dogfish can't do anything normal (which is exactly why they are so great), the twist is that it's a pilsner brewed with pear juice and pear tea. The pears give the beer a subtle tartness. It works.

9pm Update: back for a 2nd shift. Since I left this afternoon, Dock Street Little Prince Stout replaced Sixpoint Gorilla Warfare. Little Prince, an oatmeal stout, is a little brother to Dock Street's Prince Myskin Imperial Stout. It's a little brother, but at 6% it ain't that little. Some would say it's just about right.
