This Week at the Grey Lodge

Ack. What a week. I have been wanting to update this since Monday, as usual, but the week has not cooperated until now.

Beer Season Beer of the Week is DAB. This the standard for Dortmunder lagers, which is also know as Export Beer. DAB is an acronym that stands for Dortmund unified breweries, more or less. The name dates from a brewery merger. This week's beer is in a can. We weren't able to do draft since we be filling up all of our draft lines with special beers for Sunday's Groundhog Day extravaganza.

DAB really shines from the can, especially after it has warmed up for a few minutes. This is not a knock you over the head beer. But that doesn't mean it's boring. It's not, there are subtle delicious depths in this beer if you are open to them.

Quizzo: Wednesday we have Quizzo at 8pm. This week's Quizmaster is Chris3. As usual Quizzo will be on our 2nd floor.

Weekend Brunch: Saturday and Sunday, we serve Brunch from 10am to 3pm. In addition to our regular brunch menu, Big Dan has a brunch special every weekend. Our regular menu is available too.

Sunday is our annual Groundhog Day Hawaiian Shirt Beer Breakfast and Lucky Cat Beer Prognostication. Usually we open at 7am for Groundhog Day. This year, since Groundhog Day falls on a Sunday, we can't legally open until 9am. But that's OK, we'll make for it with extra fun.

Draft Beer Update

On our wheat beer line, Sprecher Hefe Weisse replaced Penn Weizen. Sprecher, out of Milwaukee, makes a lot of great German style beers, so this German style unfiltered wheat beer should be right in their wheelhouse.

On our IPA line, DuClaw Hellrazer IPA replaced Old Forge Overbite IPA. DuClaw makes Sweet Baby Jesus, the great peanut butter porter. Since that was so great, we decided to give their IPA a try. Let us know how you like it.
