Wow. It's the first full week of 2010. How exciting. So many possiblities.
A lot of things kicked on Friday, so we went into Saturday with full barrels on most lines . This weekend the only draft change was that Southampton Christmas kicked, leaving only one Xmas beer left on tap. I suspect we will have it kicked by the Epiphany. It's a bit of a trick every December regarding when to start the flood of Christmas beers on tap. We stock up on them when they come out in November and early December (and buy them while they last) but try to hold them back to peak during Christmas week. Before Christmas, we need the non-Christmas beer to kick for us to change over to Christmas beers. The challenge is that we want Christmas beer on tap for Christmas, but pretty much gone by New Years. This year it worked out perfectly, a Christmas miracle if you will.
To make a long story even longer, this week's Beer Season beer of the week, Harpoon Winter Warmer, replaced Southampton Christmas. Harpoon's Winter Warmer is a spiced beer, which fits into this Beer Season's combined them of hoppy beers and spiced beers.
